River Ridge Electric Inc. alleges Mississippi man failed to keep lookout in I-12 accident

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish company is seeking damages from a Mississippi man and a company over alleged damages from an accident in St. Tammany Parish.

River Ridge Electric Inc. filed a suit Feb. 9 against Hudson Tapplar Jr., Rocking C. Truck Lines Inc. and Sentry Select Insurance Co. in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging negligence.

According to the claim, on Feb. 9, 2017, River Ridge Electric Inc. employee Stephen Sonnier was operating a work van in the left lane of Interstate 12 in St. Tammany Parish. The suit states Sonnier attempted to move to the shoulder lane and was rear-ended by another truck, which damaged the plaintiff's vehicle.

The suit states that Tapplar Jr., who was driving a Rocking C. Truck Lines vehicle, failed to see what he should have seen and failed to keep a proper lookout.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Patrick G. Kehoe Jr. in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Cornelius E. Regan.
