Woman claims Sheraton elevator dropped unexpectedly

NEW ORLEANS – A woman is seeking damages for an incident that allegedly took place in an elevator at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel. 

Tywanda Banks filed a lawsuit on Feb. 15 against Schindler Elevator Corporation and Marriott International Inc. in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that allegedly ook place on Aug. 26, 2017. The plaintiff was in the elevator on the 45th floor at the defendant's property when the elevator began to fall quickly, and cause the plaintiff physical and emotional distress.

The defendant is accused of negligence.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney William R. Mustian III of Stanga & Mustian in Metairie. 

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge Clare Jupiter.
