Parish sheriff named as defendant in claim stemming from car accident

GRETNA – Two men claim their car was struck by a car belonging to the police.

Anthony Lee and Kyong Lee filed a suit March 26 against Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joseph P. Lopinto III and Frankie Wiseman in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging negligence.

According to the claim, the plaintiffs are seeking damages for an incident that took place on April 1, 2017 when one of the plaintiffs was driving on the Westbank Expressway and one of the defendants allegedly struck the plaintiff's vehicle, causing damages for the plaintiff.

The defendant is accused of negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Michael Collins of the Law Offices of Craig S. Sossaman in Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Michael P. Mentz.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case No. is 782064.
