Mahalia Jackson Theater, others allegedly failed to take measures to prevent man from falling down elevator shaft

NEW ORLEANS — A man claims that he was injured at Mahalia Jackson Theater when he allegedly fell down an elevator shaft.

Victor Rome filed a lawsuit on March 29 in Orleans Parish Civil District Court against I.A.T.S.E. Local No. 39, New Orleans Opera House Association, Mahalia Jackson Theater, ABC Insurance Company, XYZ Insurance Company and 123 Insurance Company, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that allegedly took place on or around March 31, 2017 when he allegedly was caused to fall down an elevator shaft due to the alleged lack of safety cones.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney's fees and appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney James P. DeSonier in Mandeville.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Donald Johnson.
