Avis Rent a Car seeks over $10,000 following accident

GRETNA – A car rental company claims a negligent driver has failed to pay for damages.

Avis Rent a Car System LLC filed a suit April 24 against Alexis Ruiz in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging negligence and breach of contract.

According to the claim, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on Feb. 8, 2016 when the defendant was driving a car and reportedly rear-ended the vehicle in front of him. The suit states the defendant has failed to pay the plaintiff for the damages owed, which total $10,642.95 plus interest.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Jamie Gary of the Dwight Law Firm LLC in Lake Charles.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Michael Mentz

The 24th Judicial District Court Case No. is 783080.
