Jefferson Parish School Board accused of negligence after bus driver allegedly caused accident

GRETNA — A woman claims that her car was struck by a school bus.

Emelda P. Lewis filed a suit on April 25 in the 24th Judicial District Court against Arcenia Ellis, the Jefferson Parish School Board and Brit Global Specialty USA, alleging negligence and reckless driving.

According to the claim, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that allegedly took place on May 1, 2017 when she was driving on Manhattan Blvd in Harvey. Ellis, who was driving a school bus for the Jefferson Parish School Board, allegedly struck the plaintiff's car without warning, which allegedly caused the plaintiff to sustain damages and injuries.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney's fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Gregory P. Dileo of the Law Offices of Gregory P. Dileo in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Nancy A. Miller.

The 24th Judicial District Court case number 783140.
