Company alleges that sinkhole was caused by negligence on the part of the Parish of Jefferson

GRETNA — A company is seeking damages, claiming that the Parish of Jefferson was negligent.

Mud Bugs Westbank Development Corporation Inc. filed a suit on May 14 in the 24th Judicial District Court against the Parish of Jefferson, alleging negligence.

According to the claim, the plaintiff is seeking damages, claiming that the Parish of Jefferson failed to maintain drainage pipes. The plaintiff alleges that the defendant failed to excavate and locate drainage pipes under a sinkhole, which allegedly caused damages to the plaintiff's property.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney's fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Michael K. Fitzpatrick of the Law Firm of Michael K. Fitzpatrick in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge E. Adrian Adams.
