Winn-Dixie, Abita Beer accused of negligence in slip-and-fall case

GRETNA – A woman claims that she slipped and fell at a beer sampling stand in a Winn Dixie Stores Inc. supermarket as a result of negligence.

Cheryl Gross filed a complaint June 12 in the 24th Judicial District Court against Chris Seagars, Winn Dixie Stores, Winn Dixie Store 1329 and Abita Beer.

According to the claim, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on Aug. 3, 2017 when she allegedly slipped and feel because a liquid had been left on the ground by Abita Beer, which was hosting a sampling stand.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney's fees and court costs. She is represented by Douglas D. McGinity of McGinity Law Firm LLC in Covington.

The case has been assigned to Division D Judge Scott Schlegel.
