Worker blames Great Lakes Dredge & Dock for heat stroke

GRETNA –A man claims that he suffered heat stroke because of the alleged negligence of his employer.

Ricardo Sutton filed a lawsuit July 20 against Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Co. LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court.

According to the claim, Sutton is alleging that, while working for the defendant on July 20, 2017 through July 28, 2017, he was instructed to work on a barge that reached extreme temperatures, resulting in heat stroke and physical pain.

In addition, Sutton claims the defendant refused to provide adequate medical treatment.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney's fees and court costs. He is represented by S. Patrick Skiles in Morgan City.

The case has been assigned to Division K Judge Ellen Shirer Kovach.
