State files to seize property from accused marijuana dealer

GRETNA – The state of Louisiana is seeking damages from an individual who was in possession of marijuana.

The State of Louisiana filed a suit July 20 against Donovan Melancon in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging possession of marijuana.

According to the claim, the defendant allegedly was in possession of raw marijuana on June 19, 2018. The defendant was also found to be in possession of items used to sell marijuana. 

The state is seeking to seize the defendant's property.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by David Wheeler in Gretna.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge E. Adrian Adams.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case No. is 785820.
