Delgado Community College seeks more than $1,400 from former student

NEW ORLEANS – A community college is seeking more than $1,400.

The University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors through Delgado Community College filed a lawsuit July 23 against Monique J. Smith in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging open account.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an open account in the balance of $1,443.78 plus interest, alleging that the defendant has failed to pay off the balance due for attending the institution.

The defendant is accused of open account.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Anthony Winters of the Louisiana Department of Justice in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Kern Reese.

The Orleans Parish Civil District Court Case No. is 2018-7265.
