Schindler Elevator sued after alleged malfunction caused "freefall"

NEW ORLEANS – A man is seeking damages after an elevator fell when he was in it.

Jamal Anderson filed a lawsuit on Aug. 10 against Schindler Enterprises LLC, Schindler Elevator Corp., XYZ Insurance, Kailas Companies LLC and ABC Insurance Co., in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleging negligence.

The alleged incident occurred on Aug. 11, 2017, at 1010 Common Street Building, when the elevator the plaintiff was using allegedly malfunctioned and fell a number of stories, resulting in physical and emotional distress.

The plaintiff alleges serious injuries. The defendant is accused of negligence.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Michael J. Hall of the Law Offices of Micael J. Hall LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge D. Nicole Sheppard.
