First American Title Insurance seeks $33,000 from Fannie Mae

NEW ORLEANS – A title company is seeking more than $33,000.

First American Title Insurance Co. filed a lawsuit Aug. 7 against Federal National Mortgage Association, aka Fannie Mae, in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging sums due.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for sums due in the balance of $33,661.77, alleging that the defendant was negligent in paying off a mortgage.

The defendant is accused of sums due.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Stephen Marx of Chehardy, Sherman, Williams, Murray, Recile, Stakelum & Hayes LLP in Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge D. Nicole Sheppard.

The Orleans Parish Civil District Court Case No. is 2018-7836.
