Family members claim negligence led to father's death

NEW ORLEANS – A family alleges that their father died due to the negligence of the staff at an assisted living home.

Christopher J. Haydel, Clarence C. Haydel III and Cheryl Haydel LaBarre, individualy and on behalf of their deceased father Clarence C. Haydel II, filed a complaint on Aug. 24 in Orleans Parish Civil District Court against Lafon Nursing Facility of The Holy Family.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on Aug. 24, 2017 when the plaintiff was caused severe injury as he was being helped into his wheelchair from his bed at 6900 Chef Menteur Blvd. in New Orleans.

The defendant is accused of wrongful death and negligence.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney James Williams of Chehardy, Sherman, Williams, Murray, Recile, Stakelum & Hayes LLP in Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Piper Griffin.

The Orleans Parish Civil District Court Case No. is 18-8503.
