Lugenbuhl, Wheaton, Peck, Rankin & Hubbard issued the following announcement on Sept. 11.

Lugenbuhl, Wheaton, Peck, Rankin & Hubbard is proud to announce that shareholder Miles Thomas has been named president of the Kingsley House executive board. His year-long term began Sept. 10.

Founded in 1896 by the Reverend Beverley Warner of Trinity Episcopal Church, Kingsley House educates children, strengthens families and builds community by providing a range of nationally accredited and state certified programs to thousands of infants, children, youth, parents, senior citizens and medically fragile adults. It is the oldest settlement house in the South and was the culmination of Reverend Warner’s efforts to help immigrants overcome language, cultural, social and family displacement barriers when they settled in New Orleans.

As a member of the board of directors, Thomas joins a cross-section of professionals from different backgrounds who oversee the strategic direction and management of the organization. The board meets monthly to conduct business and focuses on addressing issues important to both the organization and the community it serves. Thomas has also previously served the board as president-elect and treasurer.

“From the very first day he began his tenure on the board some nine years ago, Miles Thomas has been an extraordinary leader and champion for Kingsley House,” said Kingsley House Chief Executive Officer Keith Liederman. “Having served in nearly every board committee and officer capacity, Miles has always displayed the highest level of volunteer leadership, commitment and dedication and has been a phenomenal ambassador for the agency. I look forward to more great things for Kingsley House and those we serve with Miles Thomas as our president.”

At Lugenbuhl, Thomas focuses on admiralty and maritime law, as well as general litigation. He is admitted to practice law in the state and federal courts of Louisiana and South Carolina and the U.S. Supreme Court, and he has been selected to the Louisiana Super Lawyers Rising Stars list for the past four years.
