Woman seeks damages following a fall at a Hyatt

NEW ORLEANS – A woman is seeking damages for a fall at a Hyatt.

Kim Vosbein Schaefer filed a complaint on Sept. 25 in Orleans Parish Civil District Court against HRI Lodging LLC, French Quarter Hotel Operator Inc., 800 Canal St. Limited Partnership, Carey Watermark Investors Inc., and Liberty Mutual Insurance Co.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on Sept. 26, 2017, when the plaintiff was at a conference at the Hyatt located at 800 Iberville St. The plaintiff was caused to fall when she stepped off of a dark curb that was not very visible.

The defendant is accused of negligence.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Jerry Sullivan of Leefe, Gibbs, Sullivan & Dupre in Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge D. Nicole Sheppard.

The Orleans Parish Civil District Court Case No. is 2018-9609.
