Couple claims child fell from balcony due to negligence of apartment complex

GRETNA – A couple is seeking damages after their minor child fell at an apartment complex.

Ana Vasquez and Darwin Pineda on behalf of their minor children filed a complaint on Nov. 2 in the 24th Judicial District Court against Spanish Villa, Central Realty of Louisiana Inc., Jacob J. Cohen and Gayle Cohen.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on Nov. 3, 2017 when the plaintiff was in an apartment owed by the defendant located at 3512 N. Arnoult Road in Metairie. The plaintiff's child was caused to fall in an opening in the balcony and fall 15 feet to the ground. The plaintiff's child suffered severe physical damages.

The defendant is accused of negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Cesar Burgos of Burgos & Associates LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry Sullivan Jr.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case No. is 789101.
