NEW ORLEANS – American Express is seeking more than $40,000.

American Express National Bank filed a complaint on Oct. 26 in Orleans Parish Civil District Court against James Philpott.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for sums due on a promissory note. The suit states the defendant has remained negligent in the balance due, despite amicable demands from the plaintiff. The defendant is indebted to the plaintiff in the balance of $40,915.26 plus interest on the balance accrued.

The defendant is accused of sums due on a promissory note.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Edaward Bukaty III in Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge D. Nicole Sheppard.

The Orleans Parish Civil District Court Case No. is 18-10855.
