Lawsuit claims poor medical care resulted in patient's infection

GRETNA – A couple is seeking damages for an incident that affected their father.

Thomas Gibson Jr. and Barbara Gibson, individually and on behalf of their father Thomas Gibson, filed a complaint on Nov. 28 in the 24th Judicial District Court against Jefferson Parish Hospital Service District No. 2, dba East Jefferson General Hospital & Ochsner Clinic Foundation.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place in 2011. The plaintiff was a guest at the East Jefferson Medical Center on May 7, 2011 when he was a victim of a lack of professional treatment in the facility. Then, on Oct. 16, 2011, the suit states the plaintiff had a surgical procedure carried out by the defendant and that after the procedure, the plaintiff's dressing of his wound was not changed regularly, which resulted in an infection.

The defendant is accused of sums due on an incident that took place at the defendant's property. 

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Thomas Gibson Jr. in Jefferson.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge John Molaison Jr. 

The 24th Judicial District Court Case No. is 789884.
