State officials seek more than $77,000 on unpaid disaster recovery loan

GRETNA – The state of Louisiana is seeking more than $77,000 in sums due.

The State of Louisiana Division of Administration Office of Community Development Disaster Recovery Unit filed a complaint on Dec. 10 in the 24th Judicial District Court against Jamal Ahmad Esmail.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for sums due on an unpaid loan from the state of Louisiana. The suit states the defendant was lent a balance by the plaintiff that was meant to be repaid. The plaintiff has sought payment of $77,988.94 from the defendant, but to no avail. 

The defendant is accused of sums due on an unpaid loan.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by John Walsh of Shows, Cali & Walsh LLP in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division K Judge Ellen Shirer Kovach.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case No. is 790292.
