Disaster Recovery Unit seeks more than $44,000 in restitution for grant

GRETNA – The State of Louisiana is seeking more than $44,000 from a resident who allegedly failed to pay back a grant.

The State of Louisiana Division of Administration Office of Community Development Disaster Recovery Unit filed a complaint on Jan. 2 in the 24th Judicial District Court against Angy M. Riley, aka Angy M. Gaines, and Clevon B. Riley Sr.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for sums due on an unpaid grant. The suit states the defendant has been negligent in repaying a grant that was loaned to the defendant by the plaintiff. The plaintiff is seeking payment in the balance of $44,095.21 plus interest.

The defendant is accused of sums due on an unpaid grant.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by John Walsh of Shows, Cali & Walsh LLP in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry Sullivan Jr.
