Disaster Recovery Unity seeks repayment of over $37,500

GRETNA – A state agency is seeking more than $37,500 from a man who allegedly failed to pay off a grant.

The State of Louisiana Division of Administration Office of Community Development Disaster Recovery Unit filed a complaint on Jan. 2 in the 24th Judicial District Court against Rayford Morgan.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for sums due on an unpaid grant. The suit states the defendant has failed to pay off a grant that was loaned by the plaintiff for repairs to be made to a property. The plaintiff is seeking payment of $37,500 in sums due plus interest.

The defendant is accused of sums due on an unpaid grant.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by John Walsh of Shows, Cali & Walsh LLP in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.
