Plaintiff claims driver from Jefferson General Hospital struck her car

GRETNA – A woman is seeking damages following a car accident she claims was caused by a driver for a hospital.

Margaret Melancon filed a complaint on Jan. 15 in the 24th Judicial District Court against Jefferson Parish Hospital Service District No. 2; Parish of Jefferson; State of Louisiana, dba East Jefferson General Hospital; Alicia Tate; and State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on March 15, 2018 when the plaintiff was driving responsibly. The defendant, however, allegedly left her lane, striking the plaintiff's vehicle and causing injury and damages to the plaintiff.

The defendant is accused of negligence and reckless driving.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Kelly Simpson of the Law Office of Edward J. Womac Jr & Associates.

The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Cornelius Regan.
