Woman says she was injured in a City of New Orleans building

NEW ORLEANS – A woman is seeking damages, alleging she was injured due to a situation of disrepair in a city building. 

Shanda Legaux filed a complaint on Jan. 7 in Orleans Parish Civil District Court against The City of New Orleans.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on Jan. 8, 2018, when she was at the building at 421 Loyola Ave. The suit states the plaintiff was injured after the defendant failed to warn the plaintiff for a situation of disrepair, as some wood molding was not properly secured.

The defendant is accused of negligence and failing to prevent and injury from taking place.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by Timothy Richardson of Richardson Law Group in Madisonville.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge Robin Giarrusso.

The Orleans Parish Civil District Court Case No. is 2019-171.
