Shopper claims he was assaulted by a Home Depot employee

NEW ORLEANS – A man is seeking damages, alleging he was struck down by a Home Depot employee. 

Samuel Garfield filed a complaint on Jan. 10 in Orleans Parish Civil District Court against The Home Depot Inc. and/or Home Depot USA Inc.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on Feb. 6, 2018, when the plaintiff was at the Home Depot at 12300 Interstate 10 Service Road. The suit states the plaintiff was attempting to make a purchase when he was pushed to the ground by an employee who struck him.

The defendant is accused of negligence and failure to prevent an incident from taking place.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by Shelley Hammond Provostry of Hammond Law Firm in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Ellen Hazeur.

The Orleans Parish Civil District Court Case No. is 2019-334.
