Landlord claims former tenant trespassed, is indebted for over $18,000

GRETNA – A man is seeking damages, alleging that his property was trespassed on by a tenant who failed to vacate at the end of a lease.

David Jeansonne and Champs Boxing Corp. filed a complaint on Jan. 17 in the 24th Judicial District Court against Lewis J. Couvillion.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for trespassing. The alleged incident took place in March 2016 when the plaintiff and defendant entered into an agreement in which the plaintiff agreed to rent a property to the defendant for $30,000 a month. The suit states the defendant failed to exit the property when he should have, thereby trespassing on the plaintiff's property. The defendant also alleges he is owed $18,302 plus interest.

The defendant is accused of trespassing.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by L. Etienne Balart of Jones Walk LLP in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division O Judge Danyelle Taylor.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case No. is 791311.
