GRETNA – A Harvey lawn care company claims that a former employee spread false and damaging information about it following his termination.

Thrive of Louisiana LLC filed a complaint against Garrett R. Szopinski on Jan. 28 in the 24th Judicial District Court. According to the lawsuit, in December 2018 the plaintiff terminated Szopinski from his employment. The suit states that Szopinski then proceeded to spread misinformation about the company online, causing damage to the business.

The plaintiff issued cease-and-desist letters to Szopinski but to no avail. Szopinski is accused of damages and libel.

Thrive is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. It is represented by Kyle S. Sclafani of the Law Office of Kyle S. Sclafani in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge John J. Molaison Jr.
