Couple claims movie theater was negligent in wife's alleged fall

GRETNA – A couple is seeking damages for alleged injuries sustained in a fall at a movie theater.

Lula Petit and Curtis Petit Jr. filed a complaint against AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc., dba AMC Elmwood Palace 20, and Flik Inc. on Feb. 8 in the 24th Judicial District Court. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiffs are seeking damages for negligence that allegedly occurred on Feb. 14, 2018, when the plaintiffs were at the address of 1200 Elmwood Park Blvd in Harahan at the defendant's movie theater.

The plaintiffs claim that Lula Petit was caused injury when she tripped and fell because of a defective condition in the walkway, causing her injury. The defendant is accused of negligence and failure to prevent an incident from taking place.


The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Corey M. Oubre of the Law Offices of Corey M. Oubre LLC in Lulling.

The case has been assigned to Division D Judge Scott U. Schlegel.
