Cyclist sues motorist for alleged negligence, reckless driving

GRETNA – A man is seeking damages claiming that he was forced to be thrown from his bicycle by a reckless driver.

Christian Summers filed a complaint against International-Matex Tank Terminals LLC, Zurich American Insurance Company and John Doe on Feb. 11 in the 24th Judicial District Court. The plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident he claims took place on March 4, 2018 when he was riding his bike and was nearly struck by the defendant, who was driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck.

The lawsuit states that the plaintiff had to apply his brakes and was thrown from his bike, resulting in injuries. The defendant is accused of negligence and reckless driving.


The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. Summers is represented by Jason M. Baer of Pandit Law Firm LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division K Judge Ellen Shirer Kovach.
