Lawsuit alleges that couple misused a $37,500 grant

GRETNA – The State of Louisiana alleges that it is owed more than $37,000 on a grant that was misused.

State of Louisiana Division of Administration Office of Community Development Disaster Recovery Unit filed a complaint against Hung Do aka Hung Van Do and Tuyen Do aka Tuyen Kim Do on Feb. 11 in the 24th Judicial District Court. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff lent the defendant a grant of $37,500 for the use of a home repair. The defendant, however, misused the grant and now owes the plaintiff the entire balance.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The state is represented by John C. Walsh of Shows, Cali & Walsh LLP in Baton Rouge.


The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Raymond S. Steib Jr.
