Woman sued for alleged negligence of a $37,500 grant

GRETNA – The State of Louisiana Division of Administration Office of Community Development Disaster Recovery Unit claims that a woman misused a $37,500 grant issued by the state.

The unit filed a complaint against Suzanne Buras on Feb. 7 in the 24th Judicial District Court. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff states that the defendant received a balance of $37,500 in the form of a grant that was meant for the purpose of repairing a property. However, the suit claims that the defendant was negligent and misused the funds and is now indebted for $37,500 in sums due.


The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by John C. Walsh of Shows, Cali & Walsh LLP in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Michael P. Mentz.
