Man seeks damages after fall at friend's apartment complex

NEW ORLEANS – A man is suing an apartment complex for damages, claiming he was injured while visiting a resident.

Travis Franklin filed a complaint against Canterbury House Apartments, A Louisiana Partnership in Commendam, on Feb. 12 in Orleans Parish Civil District Court. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff states that on Oct. 30, 2018 he was caused to fall and be injured he was visiting a resident of the property at 301 Lakeshore Blvd. The suit claims that Franklin was in the laundry room when the floor collapsed, causing his injury.  

The defendant is accused of negligence and failure to prevent an incident from taking place. Franklin, represented by attorney Michael D. Riley in New Orleans, seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief.


The case has been assigned to Division J Judge D. Nicole Sheppard.
