NEW ORLEANS – A man is suing the owner of an apartment he was renting after allegedly sustaining an injury falling down a flight of stairs.

Norman Jay Manton Jr. filed his complaint against Sydney M. Stirling and Southern Fidelity Insurance Company on Feb. 13 in Orleans Parish Civil District Court. According to the suit, the plaintiff slipped and fell down the stairs inside the apartment he was leasing at 527 East Filmore Street, Covington, on Feb. 16, 2018.

Manton claims the fall was caused by the lack of a handrail on the staircase, and the defendant is accused of negligence and failure to prevent an incident from taking place. The plaintiff, represented by attorney Thomas M. Discon of Discon Law Firm LLC in Mandeville, seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge E. Adrian Adams.
