Woman's lawsuit alleges she was injured at nail salon

GRETNA – A woman is seeking damages from a Kenner nail salon, alleging that she was injured while receiving a treatment at the business.

Verlisar Marquez filed a complaint against Bankers Insurance Company and Vintage Nail Salon, aka Vintage Skin Spa, aka Vintage Nails, and Kim Bui on Feb. 21 in the 24th Judicial District Court. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff states that she was having her nails done by the defendant on March 17, 2018 at the salon at 500 Vintage Drive, Kenner, when the chair she was sitting on slipped out from under her, causing Marquez to fall and strike the floor.

The defendant is accused of negligence and failure to prevent an incident from taking place. Marquez is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Benjamin Brown of Ben Brown Law Group LLC in New Orleans.


The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Nancy A. Miller.
