State seeks $30,000 for allegedly misused grant

GRETNA – The State of Louisiana claims that a couple owes $30,000 in allegedly misused grant funds.

The State of Louisiana Division of Administration Office of Community Development Disaster Recovery Unit filed a complaint against Estenio Joseph and Elina Joseph on Feb. 25 in the 24th Judicial District Court. According to the lawsuit, the state's Disaster Recovery Unit claims that the defendant received a grant from the plaintiff for a specific purpose but that the grant was not used for said purpose, resulting in the balance due of $30,000 in sums due.

The defendant is accused of sums due on a misused grant. The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The state is represented by John C. Walsh of Shows, Cali & Walsh LLP in Baton Rouge.


The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan Jr.
