GRETNA – The State of Louisiana is seeking $37,500 in allegedly misused government grant funds.

The state's Division of Administration Office of Community Development – Disaster Recovery Unit filed a complaint against Kim Hinkel, aka Kim Michael Hinkel, and Bonnie Hinkel, aka Bonnie Prejean Hinkel, on Feb. 25 in the 24th Judicial District Court. According to the lawsuit, the defendants were given a grant of $37,500 to make repairs to a property but the funds were misused and thus are owed back to the state.

The state is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. It is represented by John C. Walsh of Shows, Cali & Walsh LLP in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division D Judge Scott U. Schlegel.
