Lawsuits
Contract 02

GRETNA – An Orleans Parish title company claims that a notary service company breached a contract and entered into direct competition with it.

Jefferson Title Co. filed a complaint on March 13 in the 24th Judicial District Court against Ascension Notary Services LLC and Rhonda Vinet.

According to the complaint, Ascension Notary Services, through Vinet, entered into a contract with the plaintiff and that Vinet signed a confidentiality and noncompete covenant.

The suit states that despite agreeing to the terms, on Dec. 12, 2012, the defendants failed to keep the plaintiff's information confidential and directly competed with the plaintiff.

The defendants are accused of breach of contract, breach of duty of loyalty and conversion.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Keith R. Credo of Pat M. Franz & Associates LLC in Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.
