Jefferson Parish seeks damages in contract dispute

GRETNA – The Parish of Jefferson is seeking damages it alleges is owed on a contract for services provided.

The parish filed a complaint on April 8 in the 24th Judicial District Court against Modjeski and Master Inc. According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place beginning on Feb. 13, 2018 when the plaintiff and defendant entered into an agreement in which the defendant was to provide services. 

The plaintiff alleges to have made payments totaling $207,487.49 to the defendant. A component of the process was done poorly, namely the electrical work involved, which constituted a breach of contract and breach of standard of care. The plaintiff is currently seeking reparation of the damages suffered, including $64,263 for the costs of the repairs.


The defendant is accused of breach of contract and sums due. The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The parish is represented by W. Reed Smith in Jefferson.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.
