Man alleges in suit that employer's negligence caused his injuries

GRETNA – A man is suing his employer alleging that he was injured when a rope broke and he was caused to fall.

Jacob Kansas filed a complaint against 1st Lake Properties Inc., fka First Lake Properties Inc., Global Equities Limited Partnership, ABC Insurance Company and DEF Insurance Company on April 18 in the 24th Judicial District Court. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on April 18, 2018, when the plaintiff was hired to pick up plastic buckets with screw top lids. 

The suit states that the plaintiff entered the defendant's garage and pulled on a rope for manual release of the garage door. The rope was caused to break, however, resulting in injuries to the plaintiff's hand and causing him to fall and sustain further injuries. The defendant is accused of negligence.


The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Adam S. Lambert in New Orleans. The case has been assigned to Division D Judge Scott U. Schlegel Jr.
