TAYLOR PORTER BROOKS PHILLIPS LLP: Groves Lowe to be Honored as “Sustaining Member of the Year” by Junior League of Baton Rouge

Taylor, Porter, Brooks & Phillips LLP issued the following announcement on May 10.

Taylor Porter Partner Amy Groves Lowe will receive the 2019 "Sustaining Member of the Year" award from the Junior League of Baton Rouge, recognizing her for contributions to the organization, and professional and community accomplishments within Baton Rouge. A special luncheon will be held Monday, May 13, at Juban's Restaurant, to honor Groves Lowe.

Groves Lowe formerly served as president of the Junior League of Baton Rouge, completed four terms on the Board, and served as Sustaining Advisor. The Junior League of Baton Rouge is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.

Practicing law since 1997, Groves Lowe is a Partner at Taylor Porter, where she has a litigation practice in various areas of law, including insurance defense, labor and employment, education law, appellate practice, and church property law. She has been selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America (peer-voted) in two areas: Education Law, for her work representing universities and high schools in labor and employment issues and insurance defense, and Litigation – Insurance, for her work representing various insurers in areas including personal injury, contract disputes, constitutional claims, employment, and others. In addition to her litigation experience, she has a Master of Arts in Psychology (LSU, 1994). Groves Lowe has combined her expertise in these two areas by being frequently utilized as a jury consultant, assisting other litigators in jury selection, pre-trial research, and statistical analysis and serving as a litigation consultant in expert and lay witness preparation. In addition, Amy has conducted numerous CLEs and seminars on the issue of jury selection and effective and ethical presentation to juries and has been published in the Baton Rouge Bar Association journal on jury selection.

Groves Lowe is a former honoree of Baton Rouge Business Report’s “Top Forty Under 40,” and she is an alumnus of the Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Baton Rouge class. Earlier this year, Groves Lowe was named an LSU College of Human Sciences & Education Alumna of Distinction. She received her J.D. in 1997 from Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University, and she was formerly admitted into the Law Center’s Hall of Fame.

In the community, Groves Lowe is the Cub Club President at University Laboratory School and a board member of the University Laboratory School Foundation. She serves as the state recruitment information chair for the Chi Omega National Fraternity. She also was a former vice president of the Webb Park Civic Association. She is an active member of First United Methodist Church where she serves as a Sunday School teacher for the Milestone class and the third grade class.
