NEW ORLEANS - A lawsuit filed against the St. John the Baptist Parish Library Board of Control includes accusations of discrimination and unlawful retaliation, according to documents filed late last year in the St. John the Baptist Parish District Court.

Plaintiff Dana Douglas is an African American female and St. John the Baptist Parish resident. She worked under the supervision and control of the defendant, and she says that she was subjected to a hostile, toxic and discriminatory work environment starting in July 2018.

Douglas says that her superior retaliated against her when she attempted to voice her concerns about the defamation, harassment and discrimination based on her race, by elevating the unfair treatment.

According to the suit, the plaintiff was terminated because of her race in April 2019.

Douglas seeks restitution under the Louisiana Employment Discrimination Law. She is represented by Karl Bernard Law LLC of New Orleans.

The defendant removed the case to New Orleans federal court on March 23.
