NEW ORLEANS -- A woman claims to have been wrongfully arrested five minutes after being served a protective order.

Kayle Piliego filed a complaint on June 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's office, Clint M. Kilie, John Dupuy and the Parish of St. Tammany.

According to the complaint, on June 14, 2020, Piliego was issued a protective order at her home by deputies Kilie and Dupuy. Piliego allegedly was arrested five minutes later after being served the protective order.

Piliego alleges that the arresting deputy approached her from the rear without announcing his presence and grabbed her to handcuff her. Piliego alleges that the deputy then began running his hands all over her body, including her genitals, until her male friend came out and told him to stop. Piliego was detained for 24 hours. Piliego claims the officers violated her civil rights.

Piliego seeks punitive or exemplary damages, general damages, attorney's fees and cost of suit. Piliego is represented by Malcolm B. Robinson, Jr.
