Louisiana State Bar Association issued the following announcement on Dec. 29.
A new E-Service law, Act No. 68, will become effective on Jan. 1, 2022. In addition to lawyers being required to include an email address on every pleading filed for service of process, service of court hearing dates will now be permitted by email. Service is complete upon transmission provided the sender receives a delivered receipt. The Act was signed into law by Gov. John Bel Edwards after the 2021 legislative session.
