NEW ORLEANS – A worker has filed a negligence lawsuit against his employer seeking damages for injuries allegedly sustained when the company boat struck a bank.
Plaintiff Johnathan Green Sr., a resident of Rapides Parish, filed a lawsuit in federal court against Weeks Marine citing allegations of negligence.
According to court documents, Green was employed as an operator by Weeks Marine. On January 17, 2023, he was aboard the defendant's vessel, the M/V JESSIE Q when he says the vessel, which was transporting him to a work site in Plaquemines Parish, struck a bank, causing him to be thrown from his seat and sustain severe injuries to his back, neck and shoulder.
The complaint claims Weeks Marine is at fault for the accident and cites various forms of negligence, including operating the vessel at a high speed, failing to make a turn, failing to keep a proper lookout and striking a stationary object.
Green seeks compensatory damages for pain, suffering, mental anguish, medical expenses, loss of enjoyment of life and loss of earnings, plus interest and court costs.
He is being represented by Spencer Gulden of Morris Bart in New Orleans.
