A Michigan woman says she was injured while working on a Mississippi River cruise.
Valerie Springer filed her complaint in federal court against American Cruise Lines and The Travelers Indemnity Company.
According to the complaint, Springer was employed as a crew member aboard the M/V American Symphony, which is owned and operated by American Cruise Lines. On December 12, 2022, she slipped and fell at the bottom of the stairs on a liquid substance that had been left on the deck. She claims her injuries were caused by negligence on part of the defendants.
Springer claims American Cruise Lines violated United States maritime laws and United States Coast Guard Rules and Regulations. She further accuses them of negligently hiring, training, supervising and instructing the crew members of the M/V American Symphony.
Springer is seeking damages sufficient to compensate her for her injuries, harm and losses along with interest.
