Jefferson Parish man sues Monsanto over Roundup

Federal Court
Rounduppic

A Jefferson Parish man blames the Monsanto Company's herbicide Roundup for non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

Robert Hanks filed his federal lawsuit against the St. Louis-based company.

Hanks alleges Roundup is defective and dangerous to human health. He says it is unfit for marketing and sale in commerce due to a lack of proper warnings about its associated dangers.

The lawsuit claims Hanks' injuries were avoidable and are similar to those suffered by thousands of victims across the country. Hanks says he was exposed to Roundup from approximately 1982 to 2022 and was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2022.

He says Monsanto derived substantial revenue from goods used in Louisiana and allegedly knew about the dangerous and defective nature of Roundup but continued to design, sell, advertise, manufacture and distribute it.

The lawsuit also accuses Monsanto of fraudulent misrepresentations and concealment related to Roundup's potential health risks.
