A United Airlines employee is accusing the company of disability discrimination.

Charlette Becnel filed her lawsuit in federal court alleging violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.

In the complaint, Becnel says that after injuring her lower spine while working as a Customer Service Representative for United Airlines, she was denied reasonable accommodation by her supervisors and mistreated due to her disability.

Becnel says her injury occurred on February 26, 2023, during a shift handling baggage drop. Despite reporting her injury to the lead representative on staff that day, she was not permitted to formally report her injury until March 3, 2023. Following this, she requested a change in her work schedule to accommodate medical appointments. But she says that was denied by United Airlines management.

The plaintiff further alleges one of her supervisors discouraged her from reporting the injury and made discriminatory remarks about her age.
