Sunset Harbour, LLC has filed an appeal against Edward L. Renton Jr. in the Court of Appeal, Fourth Circuit, State of Louisiana (Case No. 2023-CA-0644) on March 20, 2024. The case revolves around an eviction dispute involving a property leased by Mr. Renton and owned by Sunset Harbour.

Mr. Renton had acquired the full lease to a boathouse located at 7359 W. Roadway, New Orleans in 1999, managed by the Lakefront Management Authority (LMA). He made improvements to the property but failed to pay property taxes on these enhancements leading to a 98% tax sale interest being sold to a third party.

Sunset Harbour purchased this tax sale interest and later obtained sole possession of the improvements by buying the remaining 2% interest from Mr. Renton through partition. After finalization of the tax sale and partition, Mr. Renton filed a rule to evict Sunset Harbour from the Boathouse which was granted by the trial court.

The plaintiff is seeking reversal of the trial court's judgment granting Mr. Renton's rule to evict Sunset Harbour from the property.
