A man's estate says he was a victim of wrongful termination after he contracted tuberculosis.

Alysa N. Lawrence, in her capacity as the Special Administrator for the estate of Johnny M. Lawrence Jr., filed the lawsuit in federal court against Chennault Rentals Inc., alleging the company violated the Americans With Disabilities Act.

According to the complaint, Johnny M. Lawrence Jr. was discriminated against and subsequently fired due to his illness. The suit also alleges Chennault Rentals is part of a larger network of businesses owned and operated by the Leonards family, which should be considered a single employer under ADA regulations.

The initial Charge of Discrimination was filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on January 31, 2023, by Johnny M. Lawrence Jr., who passed away September 29, 2023. His daughter has since been appointed as a court-appointed Special Administrator to filed the lawsuit.
