A former employee is accusing Hexion of disability discrimination and retaliation.

Tameka Dew-Cooley filed her complaint in federal court against Hexion Inc.

According to the complaint, Dew-Cooley says she took stress-related short-term disability leave in March 2022. Upon returning to work, she says the company changed her schedule and job description and stopped accommodating her disability.

In October 2022, Dew-Cooley says she took another short-term disability leave for foot surgery. However, complications led to an additional surgery in April 2023. Despite this, Hexion allegedly failed to accommodate her restrictions related to the surgery.

Dew-Cooley was terminated by Hexion on May 25, 2023. She believes the termination was due to discrimination based on her disability. Following this, she filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, which has since issued a Notice of the Right to Sue.

Dew-Cooley is seeking damages for lost wages and benefits, mental pain and anguish, emotional distress, attorney fees among other damages from Hexion.
